Aussie boy Robbie Peden, was not given much chance against the flashy and highly rated American, Nate Campbell. And when Peden was all but dropped with a wincing body shot, the end was near.
Or was it ?
***squeamers alert*** if you don't like seeing fully grown men punch each other, skip this clip..
Wow. When I first saw this fight a few years ago, I marked it down as one of all time favourites. It is so rich with life lessons, among the boxing lessons. Maybe you can see some others ?
#1 Arrogance is the first step to extinction. Campbell started to believe his own invincibility and presumably his own publicity too. Even when he's been KO'd into dreamland, he's still arguing with the Ref.
#2 Body shots hurt. It is said that you can shake off a head shot, but a body shot will not go away. There's even a Rolling Stones song about it - "One hit to the body."
#3 Never give in. Peden was gone for all money. Hurt badly and fading fast - the final nail was coming. But in boxing, and in life, you just never know. Talk about grabbing victory from the jaws of defeat...
#4 Don't drop your guard. I love how the commentator wraps it up -
"If you stand there with your hands down in front of a professional prize fighter at this level , you will get knocked out.
