What makes a great punch ?
Im sure thats a question that has been keeping you up at night, and distracting you from your work every day. But its worth knowing, because if you punch well you will get dramatically different fitness results. More bang for your buck each and every punch, because your core, your legs and your glutes are engaged.A great punch is when speed and power get together and create magic.
How do you create that magic? Its different for everyone - and a good trainer should never try to make everyone the same. But a big clue is to relax all the way through the punch, until you connect. Then tense up ! Most people are too tight - and need to relax - loose as a goose- it makes all the difference. Make some noise as you breathe out and crack it like a whip. Got it !
Combos to try
Bronze - easier - try High Left Jab, Low Right Cross
Silver - Try Double Jab, Right Upper
Gold - Try Silver and add a Left Hook, Right Cross
Training the Trainers in Germany
Last week I conducted a series of Guest Fitness Boxing Workouts for Fitcom in Germany, part of the largest chain of Health Clubs in the world. I presented "The 3 Golden Rules of Teaching a Fitness Boxing workout" - to the Fitness managers of all 110 clubs in Germany. We travelled to Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt - the photos are on the main page of boxout.ning.com Did I do it in German ? Hell no - its a good thing the Germans speak such good English...
This will be my last word from Europe. London next week then back to Sydney.
