To answer your question, Arnel's class does have some sparring. It is supposed to be non-contact or just light touches, but you will occasionally get a partner who gets a bit excited and hits too hard. Basically you have to get better at defense and pick partners you trust.
thanks for you note. Im still in London, and will be back within a week to see your style.
Id like to be there every class, but after 15 years, i cant make it every week !
MMA? - i just remember Larry is bit of guru on the floor. And Fitness First ? well Im accrediting (some) their PTs, so I hope they are turning out ok.
Unfortunately lots of PTs do a day course and think, hey presto ! Im a boxing trainer ...
As for Group boxing, in the fitness gyms its usually a debacle. I spent a full year doing all the FF and others classes befor I wrote the course (it was a long year).
if you are very lucky , You may get a good trainer/format at FF - and if not, you can still kind of do your own thing. Dont be surprised if the trainer asks you for some tips after the class.
Yes I am back. Phil is a good teacher but it just isn't the same without you mate!
Yes I still do train at Boxingworks weekdays. On some days when I don't want to get worked that hard I go to Fitness First. It sounds bad but hey, that's the truth!
